Queen B is the Queen of many things, but none so more than dropping surprise albums with zero notice. Back in 2016, she did it with 'Lemonade' and now her and husband JAY-Z have dropped a nine-track project titled 'Everything Is Love' with no prior warning whatsoever.
The couple’s first joint album dropped on Saturday on the Tidal music streaming, and it is not yet available on other streaming services such as Spotify or Apple Music.
After years of marriage, three children together and shared tours, this first full-length album from the ultimate power couple have happily ended the saga of statements made by 'Lemonade' and JAY'Z's '4:44', which discuss betrayal, responsibility and coming to terms with being married with kids.
In this album, they are a united force. In the title track “Apes**t,” Beyoncé says, “I can’t believe we made it.” This song is the duo announcing that they know just how big they are, with JAY-Z practically shrugging off his zero wins out of his eight Grammy nominations and spitting “I said no to the Super Bowl/You need me, I don’t need you.” Thevideo for 'Apes**t' was shot in the Louvre, including the Carters’ ownselfies in front of the Mona Lisaand the Venus de Milo.
Not only are the married couple united as a force, attacking their haters together and having each other's backs, their musical styles converge as Beyoncé does her share of rapping as singing.
In '713' and others, the pair describes how they are connected to their humble beginnings but do not state, as so many other artists annoyingly do, that they are from modest wealth and just like everyone else. In 'Heard About Us', Queen B sings “No need to ask, you heard about us/Already know you know about us,” and JAY-Z claims he is “every-day-I’m-getting-sued famous.” In 'Boss', Beyoncé sings, “My great-great-grandchildren already rich/That’s a lot of brown children on your Forbes list.”
Beyoncé and JAY-Z are the power couple in this album that we all knew they could be. It's a banger of a project that completely encapsulates who they are and what they stand for, and we are absolutely digging it.
