XXXTentacion's 'Sad' Breaks Spotify Streaming Record

XXXTentacion's 'Sad' Breaks Spotify Streaming Record

Just days after 20-year-old rapper XXXTentacion's death, it has been announced that his hit 'SAD!' broke Spotify's single day streaming record with 10.4million streams on June 19. Drake previously held the title with 'God's Plan'.

XXX had been removed from Spotify alongside R Kelly for "hateful conduct" as part of a new policy but cancelled it at the beginning of June and XXX's music was reinstated.

Yesterday, XXXTentacion's reps released an official statement regarding his death, which involved two unidentified gunmen.

'SAD!' was part of XXXTentacion’s latest album titled '?'.  The album released in March and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Since his death, fans have a shared a previous Instagram Live where he said: “If worse thing comes to worst, and I f***ing die a tragic death or some s*** and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life."

“If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me."
